Building constructors must formulate and gain approval for their Construction Noise Mitigation Plan in New York City before beginning construction projects. The Construction Noise Mitigation Plan contains a series of city-approved measures to reduce noise during construction and mitigate nuisance. Contractors must fill out the construction noise mitigation form online and submit it to the Department of Buildings while applying for a construction permit. Once their Construction Noise Mitigation plan is approved, contractors must print at least a copy of the document and keep it on site. Staff from the Department of Buildings may inspect a construction site at any time and will request a copy. Failure to provide a copy will lead to fines. If you live near a construction site that is causing inconvenient noise, there's a probability that the site contractors are skimping on a noise mitigation plan. You can call 311 to report this problem.
